#3 - Join your local SAVE Chapter (Not required, but
good for networking)
#4 - Study and take SAVE's Certification Exam
Note: *If you can not
participate as, a team member in a VE Study conducted by your company, you can
do one or both of the following:
-
Send a
request letter, Mod I Certificate, and resume to us that, you are in the
process of obtaining the certification points required for a CVS, AVS or VMP,
and you are willing for the purpose of obtaining the certification points,
volunteer your services free of charge including, all travel, hotel and other
expenses if, we would allow you an opportunity to participate as, a
team member in a VE Study we may be conducting during the one week "you are
available."
-

(1) Year means full time equivalent (FTE).
(2) Recertification period is four years. No early recertifications
since intent is to show continued professional development over time.
(3) Continuing education consists of VM related chapter meetings, conferences,
seminars, and courses; e.g., college courses that are VM related earn
1CP = 1 credit-hour
(4) College degrees and professional certifications are for initial certification
only.
(5) For CVS recertification as a specialist, 50% of the studies or hours
must be in the role of facilitator or leader (including co-co-facilitating
/ co-leading with another CVS).

Top
The highest level is the Certified Value
Specialist (CVS), which is recognition of the individual who has met all
certification requirements, both technical and experience, and whose
principal career is value engineering.
The Associate Value Specialist (AVS) program recognizes those
individuals who decided to become professional value engineers but who have
not yet acquired all the experience or technical skills expected of a CVS.
The Value Methodology Practitioner (VMP)
program was established to recognize those individuals who acquired the
basic skills of value engineering/analysis but their principal career is not
value engineering.
The CVS and VMP must recertify every four years.
The AVS is awarded for a maximum of four years, then must be converted to
CVS or VMP. Membership in SAVE is not a requirement for individual
certification or for educational program approval.
